The best mulled wine recipe

For me, warm wine is a must during winter. We can take it with us in a thermos to warm up while ice fishing in the middle of the lake and also to enjoy by the fire after a long day of skiing.

We asked Valérie Beaulieu from LÉON COURVILLE, VIGNERON, to share with us her favourite spicy warm wine recipe. After many experiments, she developed this recipe which quickly became my favourite as well. In fact, this recipe is perfect for Quebec wines.

Ingredients

  • 750 ml red wine (one bottle of regular wine)
  • 1/2 cup of golden or red raisins
  • 1/4 cup of dark chocolate
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 5 pieces of candied ginger
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup almond flakes

**option: add 7 to 8 pink peppercorns

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients in a pot and let the mixture simmer for about 25 minutes over a medium heat. Filter and serve warm.

Cheers and have a great winter!
